First Aid Kit

At the height of my Fleet Foxes infatuation last summer, I stumbled across a cover of Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. Two teenage sisters, Klara & Johanna Soderberg, who I've recently come to learn go by the name of First Aid Kit, retreated to the woods to perform this beautiful cover. Apparently Fleet Foxes aggreed with my opinion because during a recent show in Den Haag, Netherlands, the duet joined Fleet Foxes on stage to add some back-up harmonies. If you are one of the few who haven't had the pleasure of seeing the video, here you go...

As a result of First Aid Kits new found fame, Rabid Records, whose founders are Karin Dreijer Anderson and Olof Dreijer from The Knife, recently signed them. Their new EP Drunken Trees is now available for download on their myspace page I wish both of these two talented girls the best of luck.

While on the subject of the Driejer siblings, Karin recently released her solo album under the name of Fever Ray. Here's the video for "If I had a Heart".

I suppose it should have been expected that this album would follow in the same vein as The Knife. Although, I thoroughly enjoy the new album from Karin, I hope there's a project in the works for The Knife in the not too distant future.

MOVIE TRAILERS

The 2008 release of the Nina Simone box set To Be Free appears to have re-awakened some peoples interest in her music. The trailer for the new Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead, Road to Perdition) film, Revolutaionary Road features my personal favorite Nina Simone song, Wild is the Wind.

While on the subject of movie trailers featuring great music, The Arcade Fires My Body is a Cage is used in a short but beautiful trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

While I must admit that i cannot say that I've seen either of these films but they are both on the top of my list!

Revolutionary Road recently just reached wide release so those of us who aren't in the major cities will be able to see it!
